Sagear Universal Mag Pouch KDS
Airsoft.nu have tested the magasin pouches KDL and KDS from the Polish manufacturer Sagear. The magazine pouches have been tested out in field on Johan’s MOLLE vest and chest rig some times during the last months.
KDS is an open mag pouch with place for one magazine. The KDS is available in different sizes to fit other magazine sizes. We have tested that model for common magazines for 5.56 and 7.62 caliber.

Contents of the package
The magazine pouch comes with two nylon bands for attaching the pouch in a MOLLE interface and an elastic cord.
Appearance and functions
The magazine pouch is made of olivedrab 1000D Cordura fabric with MOLLE interface on the outsides and black elastic cord which keeps all together.
The idea with this magazine pouch is that the magazine will sit tight and stay regardless many shakings or angles it’s exposed to during a fight but anyway be quick released if you grab the magazine with your hand. Because of that this pouch have a little different appearance and construction than common one magazine open pouches on the market.

The magazine pouch consists of three parts and the elastic cord keeps all together. The elastic cord have a cord lock for adjusting the tighter. If you anyway are afraid to lose a mag you can use the included elastic cord with a flap but it’s not necessary.

The surface inside of the mag pouch there are velcro (female) and probably to increase the friction for the mags sides. |

The front and the back have MOLLE interface for attaching in a MOLLE system with help of the two included nylon bands and secured by sliplocks. Because of the MOLLE interface on the front side you can attach a new in front of.
You can also have the magazine pouch horizontally attached to a belt (45 mm).

The mag pouch works for the most common magazines for 5.56 and 7.62 caliber. According to the manufacturer the pouch works for M4, AK47, AK74, AUG Steyr, kbs BERYL, SIG 550/551/552, M14, SR25 and others. |
We have tested M4/M16 and AK magazine.
The magazine pouch is easy to attach to a MOLLE system and fits good. It also works good in a 45 mm belt.
Both M4 and AK magazines are kept in place good in magazine pouch when they are vertically (to a MOLLE vest) and when the magazine pouch is in horizontally position it may be necessary to tightened a little anyway for the AK magazine because of its length.
The included elastic cord to ensure that the magazine didn’t falling out by misstake is not necessary. When you change the magazine during a fight it will be an extra moment when you need the magazine fast. Then it’s better to do it more tighter by the cord lock.

Conclusion
The most common magazine pouches with space for one magazine on the market have an elastic cord to hold the magazine on the upper side. But because of the innovative construction with an elastic cord around the pouch’s body it’s not necessary with an elastic cord on the upper side.
If you are looking for an open magazine pouch for one magazine this model from Sagear is very good choice.
